Dial-A-Ride Cars was set up in 2005 within the Mendip District Council Area following the reorganisation
of the Patient Transport Service by the NHS. The service provides transport for individuals to outpatients departments at Hospitals and other medical appointments outside of the Mendip District Council Area.
The Service is operated by volunteer car drivers who offer their time freely and in return receive reimbursment of expenses in respect of the mileage they incur.
In October 2009 due to increasing demand the service was extended to include the Parishes of Cheddar and Axbridge.
A mileage rate will be charged for the service, this will be calculated from the volunteer driver's home to destination and back. The fee is paid to the driver. Please contact the booking line for further details.
Those individuals who possess a English National Concessionary Travel Scheme Bus Pass will qualify for a reduction in charges up to a maximum of £6 on Dial-A-Ride Car journeys.
Those who wish to avail themselves of the service should ring the booking line between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday on 01749 330100, when we will be pleased to take your instructions.

If your answer is yes to all four questions, then we would love you to become a volunteer car driver with us at MCT.
You would be transporting elderly, frail and disadvantaged people to medical appointments at a variety of hospitals.
We would cover your insurance situation whilst working with us, i.e. Loss of No Claims Bonus, Excess and also Public Liability.
In return we will reimburse your costs with a competitive mileage rate.
