Slinky Services

 Slinky is an accessible door-to-door bus service funded by Somerset Council for people who are unable to access conventional transport in the Mendip area. Whether you need to get to health appointments, want to attend clubs or classes, visit friends and relatives, or just need to go shopping, we'll be happy to provide you with the transport service you require. 

If you are eligible to use this service, you will need to register to become a member. Once registered, you can book transport by contacting our booking office not less than 24 hours before you need to travel. Trips can be booked up to two weeks in advance. 
Please note that bookings can only be made by telephone - the Slinky Booking Line is open from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Concessionary bus passes entitling you to a 50% discount can be used on these services, but are only valid after 9:30am. Fares vary depending on whether your journey is under or over three miles. Single and return options are available, and children under 15 travel for half price.

Full fare prices are as follows: 
• Under 3-miles Single - £2.20 (If travelling with concession pass £1.10)
• Under 3-miles Return - £4.40 (If travelling with concession pass £2.20)
• Over 3-miles Single -  £2.80 (If travelling with concession pass £1.40)
• Over 3-miles Return - £5.40 (If travelling with concession pass £ 2.70)

Slinky operating times are usually 9:30am – 5:00pm, however some Slinky routes support schools and colleges, helping the rurally isolated pupils to access education. Therefore, during term time buses may start a little later and finish slightly earlier. 

Just a quick note about your data: Mendip Community Transport (MCT), as data controller, manages it and uses it to help book your Slinky journeys through our system provider, CTX. MCT shares your information with CTX's booking platform. By registering you are also agreeing to service-related marketing from Somerset Council (who we run the Slinky services for). We keep your data while you are using the service and delete it after a year of inactivity. You can ask to change or delete your data at any time.
